Paragraph__ 1
Patriotism means love for the motherland (one’s country ) or devotion (love) to one’s country.
حب الوطنی کا مطلب ہے کہ وطن سے پیار یا اپنے ملک سے والہانہ لگائو ۔
A patriot loves his country and is willing (ready) to sacrifice ( surrender ) when the need arises.
ایک محب وطن اپنے وطن سے پیار کرتا ہے اور ( کسی بھی وقت ) ضرورت پڑنے پر قربانی دینے کے لیے تیار رہتا ہے ۔
The word patriot comes from the Latin word, ‘patriota’ which means countryman (fellow citizen).
لفظ " پیٹری اٹ " لاطینی زبان کے لفظ پیٹریاٹہ سے نکلا ہے جس کا مطلب ہے دیہات کا باشندہ
It is considered (think/belive) a commendable (admirable) quality.
اسے قابل تحسین خوبی سمجھا جاتا ہے ۔

Patriotism gives people the strength (power) and courage (bravery) to safeguard (uphold/ protect) the interest (benefit) of the country and nation.
حب الوطنی لوگوں کو ملک وقوم کے مفاد کی حفاظت کرنے کیلئے قوت اور حوصلہ دیتی ہے ۔
For a patriot the sovereignty (independence) , integrity (unity) and honor (glory/ prestige) of the country are supreme (high/ leading) values (principles) on which no compromise (understanding) can be made.
ایک محب وطن کے لیے ملک کی خود مختاری ' وحدت اور وقار اہم ترین اقدار ہیں جن پر کوئی سمجھوتا نہیں کیا جا سکتا ۔
Patriots render )give ) sacrifice for the preservation (protection) and protection (guarding) of these values.
محب وطن ان اقدار کی حفاظت اور تحفظ کے لیے قربانی دیتے ہیں ۔

Quaid_e_Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a nation builder and a great patriot.
قائداعظم محمد علی جناح معمار قوم اور ایک عظیم محب وطن تھے۔
He wanted (wish) to protect (uphold) the values , culture and traditions of the Muslims of the subcontinent
آپ برصیغیر کے مسلمانوں کی اقدار ' ثقافت اور روایات کی حفاظت کرنا چاہتے تھے ۔
He gave the Muslims a sense of identity (recognition) by securing (getting/ obtaining ) a separate homeland (motherland) for them.
مسلمانوں کے لیے الگ وطن حاصل کر کے آپ نے انہں ایک الگ شناخت کا احساس دیا۔
He said “ we must develop a sense of patriotism which galvanizes us all into one, united and strong nation.”
آپ نے فرمایا : " ہمیں حب الوطنی کا ایک احساس پروان چڑھانا چاہیے ' جو ہم سب کو متحد اور طاقتور قوم بننے کے لیے متحرک کر دے ۔"

Spirit (passion) of patriotism makes us stay alert (active) in the wake of (as a result of) foreign (abroad) invasion (attack)
حب الوطنی کا جذبہ ' بیرونی حملوں کی صورت میں ہمیں مستعد رکھتا ہے ۔
In the history of Pakistan there are many instances (examples) when people laid down (offer/ sacrifice) their lives for the defense (protection) of the country.
پاکستان کی تاریخ میں بہت سی ایسی مثالیں ہیں جب لوگوں نے ملک کے دفاع کے لیے اپنی جانوں کا نذرانہ پیش کیا ۔
In the wars of 1965, 1971 and the Kargil War, many brave soldiers gave their lives in an attempt (effort) to protect the homeland.

1965' 1971 اور کارگل کی جنگوں میں کئی بہادر سپاہیوں نے وطن کی حفاظت کی کوشش میں اپنی جانیں دیں ۔
Captain Muhammad Sarwar, Major Tufail Muhammad, Major Aziz Bhatti, Pilot Officer, Rashid Minhas, Major Muhammad Akram, Major Shabbir Shaheed, Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan – all embraced (accept/welcome) martyrdom (state of being martyr) while fighting bravely for their motherland.
کیپٹن محمد سرور' میجر طفیل محمد' میجر عزیر بھٹی ' پائلٹ آفیسر راشد منہاس ' مجر محمد اکرم ' میجر شبیر شہید ' کیپٹن کرنل شیر خان اور حوالدار لالک جان ( ان ) تما م نے اپنے وطن کے لیے بہادری سے لڑتے ہوئے شہادت کو گلے لگایا۔
All of them were awarded (granted) Nishan_e_Hairder, the highest military award given to great patriots who lay down their lives for the country.
ان سب کو نشان حیدر سے نوازا گیا ' جو کہ سب سے بڑا فوجی اعزاز ہے ' اور جو' ان عظیم محب الوطنوں کو دیا جاتا ہے جو وطن کی خاطر اپنی جانیں قربان کرتے ہیں ۔

Patriotism , therefore is not just a feeling , it is a live spirit that continuosly inspire and guides a nation.
چنانچہ حب الوطنی ' صرف ایک احساس ہی نہیں بلکہ ایک قومی جذبہ بھی ہے جو کہ کسی قوم میں مسلسل تحریک پیدا کرتا ہے اور اس کی رہنمائی کرتا ہے ۔
In the words of S.W. Scot a “ A man devoid of patriotic spirit , is like the one who never to himself hath said? This is my own my own native land.”
ایس ڈبلیو سکاٹ کے الفاظ میں : " ایک ایسا شخص جو حب الوطنی کے جذبے سے عاری ہوتا ہے اس آدمی کی طرح ہوتا ہے جو سانس تو لے رہا ہوتا ہے لیکن اس کی روح مردہ ہو چکی ہوتی ہے ' جو کبھی خود سے یہ بھی نہیں کہہ سکتا کہ ' یہ میرا ہے ' میرا ا پنا آبائی وطن "
